About Me

My name is Wendy Teng, and I am a current graduate student at the University of North Texas. My previous educational achievements consisted of a bachelor’s in biology from the University of Houston and a master’s in healthcare administration from Texas Woman’s University. My current job is Manager of shipment documentation and imports at an industrial products distribution company. I have been at the same company for 16+ years.

For my hobbies, I enjoy working on my blogs. One of my blogs is Weekend Volunteering blog. It is a blog that posts volunteer opportunities for short term, weekend, or remote volunteer opportunities. It is intended for potential volunteers interested in volunteering but short on time. My blog posts are posted in such a way that is standard and simple to understand. My older posts are structured in the same format with date, place, who to contact, social media links, and website of the organization hosting the volunteer opportunity.

I have also done freelance writing from 2011 to 2016. I have written many articles for Katy Magazine such as “The Katy Parents Autism Support and Resource Guide”, which is an article that provides support and resource guidance for parents of autistic children. “Granting Teachers’ Creative Wishes” was an article that talked about the Inspiring Imagination grants and how it helped transform Katy ISD teachers’ educational visions into reality.  “A Childhood Obesity Special on Supersized Kids was an article on guidance from local experts to help parents prevent obesity in children.  I had written fun articles on Lifehack.org such as “A Meaningful Quiz to Decide If You Should Quit Your Job”. I have also written a press release for a wedding photography studio called EVOKE Photography in 2007.
